This is a 1980 Yamaha XS650 that’s had a number of upgrades over the years
I bought it 8 years ago with very few miles on it and I’ve only put a few thousand miles on it since then.
All of the upgrades and custom work was done by my local motorcycle shop (Motorcycle Mania). They’ve been great about keeping it in good working order. I love the bike but I’ve been getting out on it less and less over the last few years and the longer it sits between rides the harder it is to get started and keep running smoothly.
So, it’s time to sell. Here’s a rundown of what’s been upgraded:
- Vm34 mikuni 34mm Carb kit (installed 2020)
- Pamco ignition kit (installed 2018)
- New brake levers, clutch lever, kickstart lever (2017)
- New bars, gauges, cables (2017)
- Custom seat (2017)
- LED running light / turn signals (2017)
The bike has ~9,000 total miles on it. The electric start works well when the bike has been sitting for a day or less. If it’s been sitting longer, you’ve gotta kickstart it. It usually turns over after a few kicks even when it’s been sitting for weeks. It’s finicky at times but has been reliable the whole time I’ve owned it.
